In October 2006 the Slovenian Ministry of Health conducted a survey on the IT equipment available to the health service institutions in Slovenia. Out of 1591 health institutions 365 responded to the survey. This return rate covers 31.00 employees, a figure that corresponds to 82% of all employees in the Slovenian health sector. The indicators included in the study relate to: use rate of ICT by administrative workers, nurses and doctors, data about networks in use and characteristics of these networks, number of computers with Internet access, type of computer processors used and servers, information on the use of different technologies to access the Internet and data on the existence of a website for each healthcare institution, security measures taken in view of electronic patient data and the availability of electronic data in the case of system collapse. All results of the study can be accessed on the website of the Slovenian Ministry of Health.
